The European Championship took place this week in Alqueva Lake in Monsaraz, Portugal attracting over twenty competitors from Great Britain, Portugal, and Spain. The beautiful location unfortunately did not deliver too much wind this time around as the race committee was able to conduct just two races during the championships on the first and second days of racing. The following days, although nice and sunny were not eventful.
The lack of racing did not affect the mood of the competitors all that much as a rich social program delivered by the organisers included visits to a rum distillery, hot air balloons and star observatory.
Of the two races conducted the first was won by Fernando Martinez (ESP71) and second by Miguel Martinho (POR5). It was Miguel, who came out on top at the end with Fernando in second and his countryman Juan Vieito Cobian in third.
