The Race Committee decided to send out the Foil division first – with a plan to complete 3 back to back races and secure the championship. This was the very first major championship in Formula Foiling – history was created today in Puck!
The third and final race was competed in extreme conditions which saw a reversal of top 5 positions from the first two races. At the end of racing today, local hero, and olympic medallist, ‘Pont’ Miarczynski, tops the leaderboard. Three competitors are tied on 12pts for bronze medal position – but this is early days, 5 racing days to follow with a further 12 races possible.
The second half of the days racing programme was dedicated to the FIN division. Many of the foilers also were competing; and the conditions experienced in the next 2 races were at the extreme end of ‘suitable’ for formula racing.
Topping the ranking with 2 bullets is Pawel Tarnowski; closely followed by none other than 3 past world champions.
With another windy day forecast for tomorrow, we are expecting another exciting day of racing in Puck – in both Formula Windsurfing and Formula Foiling.
