At the second day of the Windsurfing Euro-Cup the Slalom Pilots and Formula Racing experts had their first competition. The wind welcomed the surfers with wind force four, but the waves were still pretty high. In very challenging conditions we were able to race nearly one Slalom elimination and raced two full Racings. In this discipline Racing Sebastian Kördel (GER-220) is leading the fleet after todays competitions.

„We are very happy that the massive shorebreak did not lead to any damage or injuries. The conditions we’ve seen today are the reason why Sylt is well known as one of the most radical surf spots in the world.“ (Matthias Regber, Choppy Water Eventmanagement)

First of all the discipline Slalom was started. Until the semifinals the spectators could see the best surfers living up to their reputations. Within the semifinals the wind dropped under the windlimit. The Racedirector, Holger Lass, decided to abandone this Slalom Elimination and switch over to the discipline Formula Racing. The final heats are planned to be held at Friday or Saturday.

Casper Boumann (NED-52), the Formula Windsurfing Worldchampion 2013, dominated the first Racing from the very beginning. He was followed by Sebastian Kördel (GER-220) and Maciek Rutkowski (POL-23). Last years winner Sebastian Kornum (DEN-24) finished this race on position number four in front of Vincent Langer (GER-1).

The second Racing started subsequently. This time Vincent Langer took his change and won the second race. He was directly followed by Janis Preiss (LAT-23). Sebastian Kördel reached the finish line in third position. He was followed by Malte Reuscher (ITA-7777) from Italy and Gunnar Asmussen (GER-88)

Sebastian Kördel is leading the Formula Racing ranking list with 5,0 points after the second day of the Windsurfing Euro-Cup. Vincent Langer is following in second position with 5,7 points. The winner oft he first race, Casper Boumann, is in third position with 10,7 points. Malte Reuscher (11,0 points) and Gunnar Asmussen (12,0) points complete the Top-5 in the discipline Formula Racing.

But nothing set so far. The Summer Opening presented by Multivan is running until Sunday and the weather forecast looks nice and windy every competition day. The Surfers and Spectators are stoked for some more windsurfaction. Some more competition in the discipline Formula Racing are expected.
