A very competitive fleet is assembled in Buenos Aries for the 2013 Formula South American Championships; with 33 competitors from Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Peru and Latvia. After yesterdays, and today’s, early morning registration, we head into the water at 1400 hs with a nice breeze from the E-SE from 8-13 kts.
We had three races scheduled ‘back to back’ for both fleets – to start with! Then a break of an 1hr and two more ‘back to back’ races to finish the day in 13-18 kts.
In the FW fleet we saw a good battle for the top three places between Gonzalo, Gabriel (Browne) and Janis (Preiss). Gonzalo won all three races in the first session while Janis and Gabriel took turns on second. For the 4rth place Bautista Saubidet had an edge on the rest of the battle which was between Nahuel Abraham, Matto Bonomi, Rodrigo Costa Hoevel, legend Sergio Mehl and Jose Diez..
On the FE class Eduardo “Toto” Herman CHI1 won all three followed by Leonardo Rebello BRA and Matias Canseco from Peru.
After the break the last two races were won again by both Gonzalo and Eduardo in each class.
With 5 races on a great sunny day all racers were more than pleased. The forecast for the second day shows some wind in the late afternoon, so we will see more action coming.
