LAGOS IBERIAN CUP 2011 – 3º DAY REPORT

The 3º day starts with lots of clouds and rain and everyone is a little bit sad, because was thinking that will be like the 1º and the 2º day. The skippers meeting was schedule for 11h00 and everyone was at that time in front of the club for the meeting, and still continuing raining. The CR make a change for this day, we will try to make 3 races back to back a time to relax and 2 more races back to back in a total of 5 races in the 3º day, Everyone was ok with that change because in two days we only made 2 races.

We wait a little and the rain goes away, but continuing with lots of clouds, the wind starts to pick up, wind from NW. The CR says that e goes to the water to start the races, when the CR goes to the water the wind was at 15 to 18 knots, but when the first race starts the wind was allready at 20 to 22 knots. (The start of a crazy day of wind).

We make 3 races back to back with the wind allways pick up, with strong gusts 25 to 28 knots. This 3 races was no story to tell 3 bullets for Paulo do Reis, it was is wind, Miguel Martinho and Fernando Martinez try to pick up is pace, but without sucess. It was 3 dificult races for all the fleet with lots of guys come to the beach without strong enough to continue.

Finishing the 3 races everyone comes to the beach to rest, and wait for the CR, the Cr comes to the beach and said that will try to make two more races, but if the wind picks up more only make one race. We wait 30 minutes and the flag goes up 30 minutes to star the 4 race of the day. Only 10 guys goes to this race, the CR said the in the racing zone was 25 with guts of 30 knots. When the 10 guys arrive to the racing zone, come more clouds and the wind picks up more with gusts to 34 knots, it was very dificult to this 10 strong guys, all with 10,0m sails and 9,5 sails. The race starts and the 6 guys was very close to each other only one guy in the front was Paulo dos Reis, this race was very dificult to everyone to control the board, because the wind pass wind of 25 knots to gusts with 34 knots. The rest of the race was no story with one more bullet for Paulo, Miguel Martinho this time stay at shore because is only have one sail, he is now the new guy from the Severne team, and only receive one sail.

For Now Paulo in first, Miguel in second and Pablo in 3º place.
