Every year more and more people discover the beauty and tranquility of Poland’s beaches. The wonderful hospitality of the Polish people and proven event management skills ensure that international windsurfing class events keep returning and Leba is gaining a reputation for being one of the top windsurfing destinations with its soft clean sand, mild temperatures, and steady wind. The town itself is exciting and full of hidden gems.

An incredible 23 European nations are taking part in the 2008 Allegro Formula Windsurfing European Championships which kicks off in just five days in Leba. Over a hundred competitors are expected and such is the importance of this event on the international calendar that participants are also coming from as far away as Brazil, Argentina and Australia! The Allegro Cup is a Formula Grand Prix and Grade 1 Formula Windsurfing World Ranking event. Also a Qualification Regatta, in the Men’s Division, for the 2008 Formula Windsurfing World Championships.

Top ranked FW sailor Gonzalo “Speedy Gonzales” Costa Hoevel from Argentina will be competing for sure along with many of the best competitors in the world – Jesper Vesterstrom from Denmark, Wilhelm Schurmann from Brazil and Great Britain’s Ross Williams, hot from the PWA competition in Fuerteventura, to name but a few.

Italian Alberto Menegatti has been training in Leba and warns “. . . finally I have some good speed . . .” but the strong Polish contingent including Michael Polanowski, ranked fifth in the world, have every chance for places on the podium and certainly won’t be making things easy for their rivals.

In addition to the fierce battles expected on the water, there will be competitions and attractions on the beach, parties and barbecues – five days of pure fun, excitement and entertainment for young and old alike.
