Here are some interesting background facts about the championship here in Santa Pola.
These four stories are a perfect illustration of the planning that has gone into the event , and how the organisers have tried to involve the whole community .
Fiesta Graffitis.
A competition was held for graffiti artists- design a new grahic for the wall of the Windsurf Club to commemorate the Championship.
The best three designs were chosen and the artists each offered one wall to paint their design. Finally an awards evening and Hip Hop Party .

Photo Competition.
Photographers were invited to present, at the end of the competition, a “gallery” of photos that they thought best represented the Championship-from the beginning, the middle, to the end. Their portfolios will be judged by a panel of judges representing the organisers, town authorities and community.
The winner will receive a prize and an “exhibition”of the winning entry.
Schools Competition.
A “drawing-painting” competition for the school children of Santa Pola. The children are asked to paint or draw an image to represent their feelings about the championship.
Each child will be representing their school ; the winning entry will be awarded a commemorative plaque and the school will receive a “bursary” to provide material essential for the education of the pupils. The winner will be decided on Friday – penultimate day of competition- and the award made at the closing ceremony for the championship.
CONCURSOThis championship will also be supporting a worthy charity that is raising money to provide school buildings for children in Nicaragua. The team of event volunteers , youth of Santa Pola, will be offering “beach windmills” for visitors to buy at the event site for 1 (one) euro (only the minimum -you can of course offer more !)
