The Chilean nationals where held in Rapel Lake, situated about 2 hours from Santiago it has incredible facilities with beautiful houses all around it. The wind comes in at exactly 5pm which makes it perfect to do whatever you want during the day and get ready to race at 5pm until 9pm, most of us went waterskiing during the day or just hanged out.

We ran a total of 6 races, two on Friday and 4 on Saturday with winds ranging from 9-18 during the two days, Sunday the wind just didn’t want to go over 7 knots and after two attempts the race comity called it a day.

The fight for first place was between Gonzalo (ARG3) and Wilhelm (me) (BRA999) and in the end we tied in points with each of us winning 3 races and getting 3 seconds, I ended up winning on the tie brake and in third place came Nicolas Scheider (PER 2) from Peru. Winning the Chilean nationals (4th open) was Eduardo Herman (CHI 11) who was followed closely (5th open) by, Matias Seguel (CHI 779) and (6th open) Cesar Zavala CHI 1).

In the masters the title (7th open) went to Jean Pier Ohaco (CHI 52) and in the womens to Denise Arens (CHI 9) The Chilians put up an incredible event, with great organization together with the warmest hospitality. Special thanks to the Club de formula windsurf, Windsurfing Chile, Nautisport, Surazo magazine, Cesar Zavala, Matias Seguel and the president of the national windsurfing association Juan Carlos Robba. These guys are the main reason for making formula grow in Chile…

Thanks and see you next year for sure.

Best regards,
