Formula Windsurfing Youth World Championships 2004 Formula Windsurfing Junior & Master Championships 2004

The 98 competitors from 13 different countries experienced five exciting racing days at the Formula Windsurfing Youth World Championships 2004 in Dranske village on Ruegen island. Excellent conditions on land and on the water ensured a perfect event. Race Director Bruno de Wannemaeker from Belgium took the chance to put up a new record: A total of 41 races was sailed during the five regatta days. The World Championship venue “Dranske” attracted several representatives of national FW associations who are planing to run training camps for their competitors here.

The new Formula Windsurfing Youth World Champion (Men) is Markus Boumann (NED-666) from the Netherlands. On the last day, in the 14th of 15 races he managed to overtake the French Florent Renard (FRAU-539) who was leading the event all the other days and won the title with a lead of 2,6 points. The third position went to Julien Quentel (FRA-421) who is also from France.

Jozefina Rudzinska (POL-1381) from Poland is the new Formula Windsurfing Youth World Champion (Women). In the last race of the event she was able to win in front of Sara Beckman (FIN-441) and also passed her in the final ranking. The third position went to Jenifer Kesik (POL-215) from Poland.

The Junior Fleet was fully dominated by the young dutch hotshot Dorian van Rijsselberghe (NED-82) who won nine out of twelve races. He had ensured his victory already on Saturday and is the Formula Windsurfing Junior Champion 2004. On the second place follows Przemyslaw Sieminski (POL 239) in front of his Polish team member Maciej Rutkowski (POL-232).

The German Racers were able to dominate the Senior Fleet with a triple triumph: The German Record Champion Bernd Flessner (GER-16) was able to defeat his main opponent in the German Windsurf Cup Helge Wilkens (GER-63). The third place went to Denis Standhardt (GER-189). Klaus Sausen (GER-35) from Germany managed to keep the focus and ensured his victory in the Master category with a second place in the last race. He is the new Formula Windsurfing Master Champion 2004 in front of Pikul Ryszard (POL-40) from Poland.
