The hugely successful Midwinters event hosted by Calema Windsurfing Inc. (School and Pro shop ) from Merritt Island ,Florida has been selected for the 2004 Formula Windsurfing North American Championships . The event will take place from 5 th to 7 th March . The Midwinters has been running since 1985 and is now the largest windsurfing event in the USA.. The event is organised by Tinho Dornellas , a respected coach (a US Sailing Master Instructor ) and “tipster” ,well known for his articles in Windsurfing magazine.
The event is popular with both Pro sailors and amateur enthusiasts . Last years event was won by Antoine Albeau ,heading a top ten of international formula stars ; with Micah Buzianis the leading sailor from the North American continent ,just ahead of Kevin Pritchard(3rd and 4th respectively ). Popular with sailors from the” four corners” of the world , this years event will prove to be no exception as the 2004 Championship is a qualification regatta for the 2004 Worlds later in the year . Six qualification places are to be contested , in addtion to the Formula Windsurfing (NA)Continental Title .
