I arrived at the event site yesterday morning(a small lake in Worthington Minnesota), still feeling a little tired after arriving at the hotel at one in the morning the night before from a grueling long trip, driving from portugal to marseille, france and then flying straight to Minnesota. with no other pro’s showing up it looked like after my long travel, and so many events in a row, i might be able to relax a little with my family who had come to visit me. although there are a few ametuers that could give me some pressure in the right conditions.

It was a really nice event site, with a grassy rigging area running along less than five meters from the water.

I then went to pull my new board out of the only to find out that it was broken in half. It looked like the airlines had dropped something really heavy on the bottom while it was upside down. feeling a little frantic with the skippers meeting only an hour away. A friend with all of the repair tools with him offered to help fix. Luckily we didn’t have any wind for the rest of the day so we got it repaired very nicely and quickly I might add, considering that it the only thing holding it together was the top middle of the deck.

Feeling a little better now that my board was fixed, I arrived at the event site this morning to see that the wind was blowing a good 15 knots out on the water.

Unfortunatley it started to really get light during the start of the sequence. and by my second upwind leg i started parking up for quite a while. but the race director decided not to cancel the race and I eventually made it to the finish line about 10 minutes ahead of the second place formula. A few of the long boards got a bit closer in the subplaning conditions.

Looking forward to a 9am skippers meeting tomorrow im hoping for some good winds and good races.
