SECOND COMPETITION DAY AT CAGLIARI – ONE RACE!

Today it was sunny and hot, perfect for thermical wind. In fact in the early afternoon wind began to blow. Margit and me were so unpatient to have a race, that we were ready already before AP was lowered. The wind was good, I was full powered with 11 m2 and there was nearly flat water, perfect conditions for me. Today girls started first. Dorota and me did a quite good start, Margit was right behind us. I arrived first at the upwind mark, but Dorota overtook me on the downwind leg and then I was not any more able to pass her. Excuse me, that I don’t write about the other girls, but I was so concentrated on Dorota and the course, that I didn’t realised was happened behind me. Dorota won, me second, then Margit, Simona and Katarina. Some of us stopped near the starting line to cheer up to the winner of men’s race, Alberto Menegatti.

Then we had our second start. Simona did perfect start. Dorota led the race after short time. My upwind tactic wasn’t good and at the upwind mark there was really light wind. I had to tack two times to get finally this f… mark, so also Simona and Margit passed me. But after downwind I was again second. Only the wind continued dropping and at the second upwind mark the race get cancelled. Everyone went to the beach. But waiting was invain, no more wind, only sun burning over the bluish clear sea.
