Devon Boulon joined the WindWing/Gulftech team in early December. Previously he had been closely involved with the North Sails design program. so he had a good idea of where to start for the new formula sails. Immediatley he tested the previous production Race Sails and started coming up with ideas to improve the sails for the next year. at the same time he joined with Gulftech designer Don McCormick on some new super booms that were already in progress. After alot of thought and discussion with designer Bill Hansen and fellow teamate Mike Percy, Bill sent in some new improved designs for the Proto’s. Unfortunately they did not have alot of time since the new sails had to be out in just over a month. But it didn’t matter. the sails were immediatley a success, with the team putting in a good showing in the Midwinters in Florida.

A month and a half later Devon continued to show that a small company can make a very competitive race sail. After a good finish in Lake Garda, Italy, he put up some impressive results in the European Championships in France, with a second, a third, and then his first bullet in a European competition.

After that he got picked up by F2 boards to race for and represent their international team. Devon will continue on his tour with the US Open, and then back to Europe for the Eurocups in Sardina, and Portugal.

At the same time they are continuing to work on some new race sails, to attempt to get the competitive edge for 2004, and bring WindWing and Gulftech to the European and world markets to fully compete with all of the top brands who have already set down roots.

good luck to them.
