Dear windsurfing fans,
From the 5th to the 8th of June the Windsurfing Euro-Cup will come to the city of Cascais for the 4th stop of the season 2003. Before the event in Cascais the series has already visited Porto Santo / Madeira [Portugal], Malcesine/Lake Garda [Italy] and Cagliari/Sardinia [Italy]. Again the most important racing series will call the best windsurfers of the world to prove their performance on the water.
We are happy and proud to return to Cascais as the spot has proven to be not only a very reliable venue for Formula Windsurfing regattas but also a very pleasant place to stay for the competitors and our team. The convenient climate and the numerous cultural and historical attractions in Cascais, Lisbon and the neighbourhood ensure that everybody will enjoy the days in one of the most western parts of the European mainland. – not only on the water but also besides the competition! Additionally the famous wave conditions in the neighbour beach Guincho might grant the windsurfers a chance for some unforgettable rides on the great Atlantic waves.
Last year the Windsurfing Euro-Cup was joined with the FW Europeans. Kevin Pritchard from the United States was able to win after 7 exciting races. So he took not only the main share of the prize money and important points for the annual ranking list of the Windsurfing Euro-Cup but also the European title back home. This time the challenge will get harder: The level of the competition has increased even more. The leading windsurfing manufacturers will send their top racers to the event and many countries will be represented by their best competitors. So I am not able to predict who will be able to win this time.
We expect that the inhabitants of Cascais, the direction of the marina Cascais and the organizing team of the Overpower Club will again be perfect hosts. “In the past you have delivered us unforgettable moments and the competitors love the high level of the competitions that are organized by Overpower Club!” With a perfect infrastructure at the beach, shuttle services from the airport and lunch opportunities at the event site the competitors are able to fully concentrate on their races on the water. The personal atmosphere ensures that everybody feels like home.
A prize money total of EUR 20.000,00 will attract all the favourites. The spectators and the media can expect four days with racing action in the bay of Cascais. Thousands of people will again follow the races online and the leading windsurfing magazines all over the world will report about the competition.
The presentation of the Windsurfing Euro-Cup Cascais 2003 to the press will be a casual ceremony in the Illustrious Hall of the Estoril Coast Tourist Board, on the 4th June at 16:00h with the presence of the several people involved in the event.

De 5 a 8 de Junho a Windsurfing Euro-Cup visitará a cidade de Cascais para a quarta Etapa de 2003. Antes desta prova já decorreram as etapas de Porto Santo/Madeira [Portugal], Malcesine/Lake Garda [Itália] e Cagliari/Sardinia [Itália]. Uma vez mais a prova mais importante irá ter os melhores windsurfistas do mundo para provar o seu desempenho na água.
Estamos felizes e orgulhosos por voltar a Cascais, pois o spot provou ser não só muito seguro para as Regatas de Formula Windsurfing, mas também um local muito agradável para os competidores e a nossa equipa. O clima agradável e as inúmeras atracções culturais e históricas de Cascais, Lisboa e arredores asseguram que todos irão gostar dos dias num dos locais mais a Oeste da Europa – não só na água mas também fora da competição!
Adicionalmente as condições das famosas ondas da vizinha praia do Guincho podem permitir aos windsurfistas a hipótese de alguns inesquecíveis rides nas fantásticas ondas do Atlântico.
No ano passado, em Cascais, Kevin Pritchard, dos Estados Unidos – Campeão do Mundo, juntou-se à família Europeia após 7 provas emocionantes. Por isso, levou para casa não só a totalidade do prize Money, importantes pontos para a lista do ranking anual do Windsurfing Euro-Cup, e o título Europeu. Nesta altura o campeonato irá ser mais duro: o nível da competição teve um enorme desenvolvimento. Os fabricantes de equipamento de windsurf irão enviar os seus competidores top para o evento e muitos países serão representados pelos seus melhores competidores. Por isso, é imprevisível dizer quem irá ganhar desta vez.
Esperamos que os habitantes de Cascais, a Direcção da Marina de Cascais e a equipa de organização do Clube Overpower sejam mais uma vez os hóspedes perfeitos. “No passado proporcionaram-nos momentos inesquecíveis e os competidores adoraram o alto nível da competição organizada pelo Club Overpower!” Com uma perfeita infra-estrutura na praia, serviços de transporte do aeroporto e merendas durante o evento, os competidores irão estar totalmente concentrados nas suas provas. A atenção personalizada assegura que todas as pessoas se sintam em casa.

A apresentação à Imprensa do Cascais Windsurfing Euro Cup 2003 decorrerá numa cerimónia informal, que terá lugar no Salão Nobre da Junta de Turismo da Costa do Estoril, dia 4 de Junho pelas 16:00, com a presença dos vários intervenientes no Evento.
