We were of course very pleased with our results in Malcesine, winning both individually and the manufacturers ranking. Wojtek and Andrea in particular sailed exceptionally well. As a challenge to other manufacturers, we would like to point out the importance of the women’s fleet as well. This is not only about men, but it is obvious that our competitors are over looking this fact. 15 out of 17 female competitors were on Starboards in Malcesine.
Despite a slight disappointment for us in the Europeans, (although we would probably have won the manufacturers ranking) we are quite optimistic and motivated for the next EC in Sardinia. It is unfortunately still too early for Kevin to compete, although he is able to walk on his foot already, but With Wojtek back in the saddle, and Gonzalo, Michael, Brian and Andrea ready to go –we should have a good team that will definitely demonstrate their presence.
We are pleased to be leading the manufacturers ranking, althoug on even points with Fanatic- despite the fact that we have not been able to send our top team at the two previous races. With Kevin, Wojtek, Gonzalo and Andrea only having sailed one race each, we still have a lot to do in the individual rankings, but the season is still very young. Sam Ireland have not been able to travel to Europe yet, but are scheduled for four Euro Cups this year.
We are pleased to see the involvement and hard work from Fanatic. It makes it all much more interesting and competative. As for AHD it remains to be seen. Antoine Albeau won the French title, and now also the official European title, but we miss a more consistant team performance from that camp. Hopefully they will come back stronger this season. We do also believe that F2 will build a good team this year. They have certainly proved to have the tools.
Applaus to Matthias Regber for his excellent reporting and media service. It helps us all to understand and enjoy the races and grow the FW class.
