I started this morning at 6:00 from Kiel in the very north of Germany. After a nine hour drive I finally reached Lake Garda. The impression was overwhelming made worth any minute that I spent on the road today. The Lake welcomed me with 25 degrees, blue sky and perfect sunshine. The nice Ora breeze called hundrets of windsurfers on the water in the bay of Torbole. When I drove down the east coast of the Lake my heard started to beat faster!
The atmosphere in the marina of the Fraglia Vela Malcesine was overwhelming: dozens of racers where training on the water. A little bit more out on the Lake the girls from the Diva Camp were training. And in the Marina everybody was just welcoming each other. Some competitors are already in Malcesine for a few days, some have just arrived. Many haven’t seen each other for the whole winter and some have just raced together at the EC in Porto Santo/Madeira at the beginning of April. It is a little bit as if you are on a big family meeting…
Over 120 competitors have pre registered for the regatta. So we will see one of the biggest Euro-Cups of all times! Chiara, the secretary of the club has a lot of work to do in the next two days to register everybody.
Here you have a small gallery with impressions from my arrival.
More infos will follow in the next days!
Best regards from Lake Garda,
Matthias
