Scotland,

Upon arrival, I think anyone would admit that Scotland is a very impressive place. Towering hills with millions of different shades of green, and speckled with the thousands and thousands of little white sheep. I arrived on Friday, after a drive from London through the night, to very unusual Scottish weather, sun. Something they typically don’t see here for more than an hour. This would have been fairly nice except for the fact the with the sun came three days 5 days of glassy water. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday brought no wind what so ever, but at least there was sun. Wednesday, today was the first day of wind and therefore racing. We got a slow start out to the course because it took quite a wile for the wind to steady out enough to run a fare race. The first race went off in roughly 10 knots of breeze but quickly dropped to around 8. We favored the middle because the breeze had not fully chosen a direction, west or north west. Around the first mark was Pascal Toselli sailing Pryde and Exocet, then I came around, Gaastra and Mistral, we were both closely followed by Bel 91 on Gasstra and Fanatic. These positions remained for the rest of the race to the finish. Because we were racing a good distance from the beach we raced two races back to back. By the time the sequence started for the second race the wind was a solid 15 knots and fairly steady around the course. Off the start Alberto Menegatti, Ita 456, displayed his Lake Garda speed, and secured first position withing 5 minutes. I followed him around the top mark, but with Florent Renard, Fra 539, on my heels. The two of us battled it out down wind a he ended up rounding just in front of me around the leeward mark, unfortunatly he was able to maintain that lead for the remainder of the race.

The Current rankings are
1. US 64 Seth Besse
2. Fra 539 Florent Renard
3. Fra 916 Pascal Toselli

Sincerely,
Seth Besse US 64
Mistral, Gaastra, Fiberspar
