The Carmim Alqueva event is the first Championship of Formula Windsurfing for Portugal and for Europe. All Formula guys were waiting for this fantastic and amazing event, not only because is one of the best events we have every year but also the amazing place that is Monsaraz and the Lake Alqueva, a beautiful place.
One more time we have a very good fleet, it’s a pity that we only have Portuguese and Spanish competitors, when this is a European event. Competitors confirmed for this event we have 34.
The first day of the event was a very relax day, all morning was the registration and preparation for the event, and also because the wind was very light all the competitors had a very relaxed time, time to lunch to prepare all the equipment, time for everything.
The day was perfect, sunshine, blue sky and a temperature around 22º 23º degrees, amazing.
We had the first skippers meeting of the event, at 15h00, and the CR said that we will wait till 18.00 to see if the wind pickup or not. Finally at 16.30 the wind start to pickup around 10 to 11 knots and the CR, start to prepare everything to start a race, but without any success, because the wind didn´t stay time enough to start a race, but still there were several guys testing the equipment and the place.
For tomorrow, the forecast is a little better, and now that everything is prepared will be must faster, the skippers meeting will be at 12.00, because the wind only start to pickup ate 14.00.
