Four more races were completed on day 3 of the 2015 Azores World Championships.

Stronger winds were predicated and the sailors were not disappointed! Some races were completed in winds gusting to 25 knots; but you need to be consistent to be a champion here on the bay of Praia da Vitoria. Winds can be shifty and gusty – but cream always rises to the top, and Gonzalo Costa Hoevel from Argentina won all 4 races today. After 8 races and 2 discards Gonzalo has the perfect score.

The battle for second place hot’s up with 3 sailors tied on 18 points: Sebastian Kornum (DEN), Steve Allen (AUS0) and Janis Preis (LAT). Steve and Janis are accustomed to podium positions at world championships; but Sebastian may well be the youngest medallist in the history of formula windsurfing world championships.

A very challenging forecast for day 4, with storm force conditions predicted that could delay the start of racing – but this regatta is not over yet !
