The 2014 European Cup tour is about to travel to Loutsa Bay, Athens Greece, for the final event of the season. The Albatross windsurfing club will host the competitors at the Mecca location of Greek windsurfing. This year the event will present the overall top three places for the European Cup tour, as well as our Greek National Champion for 2014.
We are very excited about welcoming top international sailors to Greece. We hope that the wind gods smile once again on our event. LAT-23 and EST-24 seem to be secure at the top of the rankings. However 3rd place is definately up for grabs – possibly EST-12, LAT-11, or LTU-76. Several other athletes could also improve their Euro Cup ranking considerably. It will be interesting to see who can have a good final event and possibly grab a season Euro Cup podium finish.
The title race for the Greek National title will also be a major battle between GRE-28 and GRE-19. Both athletes have won the title in the past. Recently, at the European Championships Croatia, our two top Greek racers finished 12th and 14th. So racing for the title here in Loutsa looks like it will be fast and furious. Add the top foreign competitors to the mix, and the final event of the Euro cup season could be a great 4 days of Formula Windsurfing.
