The 2014 Downunder Pro and Formula Oceanic Championships will be hosted by the Georges River Sailing Club, on Botany Bay, Sydney, New South Wales. The event also has new dates and is moved forward to earlier in the new year – from 9th >12th January. The organisers, the Australian Windsurfing Association, opted to move both dates and venues for logistical reasons and a looking forward to a long a d happy collaboration with the host club.
The event, which also includes the Australian National Championships, includes a couple of experimental new features:
– the masters division has been dropped in favour Grandmasters;
– a “free formula” division has been included, racing to normal class (equipment) rules but on a shortened course;
– the format will be a maximum 18 race series, with a maximum 5 races per day.
