Dear international competitors ….
we would like to draw your attention to the Volvo Surf Cup presented by Flens. This is the biggest national windsurfing event in Germany and the good news is: It is open for competitors from foreign countries who are interested to participate in a great regatta.
Every year in the last full week of July Westerland on the island Sylt in Germany hosts one of the biggest windsurfing events worldwide. The VOLVO SURF CUP 2012 presented by FLENS is the big final of the German national series Deutscher Windsurf Cup. It features the disciplines Racing (Formula Windsurfing), Slalom, Waveriding and Freestyle. Traditionally the German national Champions are crowned at this event. Like at all other events of the German Windsurf Cup competitors from foreign countries are not only allowed but very welcome to join the German Windsurfing elite.
This year the event will get a further boost. The event has been selected to be part of the new FW European Cup. So competitors in the discipline racing can not only fight for the triumph at this prestigious event but will also win ranking points for the FW World ranking and the FW European Cup ranking.
But windsurfing is not the only highlight at this event. Sylt is famous for the incredible party scene in the summer. The island is crowded with thousands of tourists who enjoy the relaxed luxury life on Germanys island number one. The VOLVO SURF CUP 2012 presented by FLENS features a band festival with daily live concerts on the event stage with free entry for everybody. Thousands of spectators are flooding the promenade every day to enjoy the event. Those competitors who have participated in the European Championships on Sylt in May have experienced a first taste of what they can expect for the summer. Be prepared to get blown away by the size of the event! Last year about 120.000 spectators have followed the event.
So far already more then 50 competitors have registered for the event. We have participants not only from Germany but also from Scandinavia, the Baltic countries and even the United States. We would be honored if you would join us in this great regatta.
