Four races were completed , as expected, on day 1 of the Brasilian National Championships. This 4 day event precedes the 2010 Fortaleza Formula Windsurfing Grand Prix which will start on Tuesday 26th.
It was a day of mishap and misadventure for some , particularly in the first race of the day, which left recent winners at the Formula Festival – Paulo Dos Reis and Gabriel Browne – languishing behind an early lead for Wilhelm Schurmann. BRA999 continued to put in a series of consistant performances that left him leading the pack at the days end.
BRA3333 and BRA50 recovered well in the later races – particularly Biel, with two bullets in races 3 and 4.
Local racers , Victor and Fabio Melo , also featured prominently in the top 5, as did Mathias Pinheiro, recently crowned Masters World Champion in Araruama.
Brasilian racers will not have it all their own way – Miguel Martinho (POR5) amongst others, will ensure a close fight to the finish on Monday.
