The 2009 Formula Windsurfing European Championships will now take place in Sopot, Poland from 4th to 9th August. The event, hosted by the SKZ Club Sopot, will also be the second leg of the 2009 Formula Windsurfing Grand Prix World Tour.
The club includes amongst its members many well known, and successful racers including: sister / brother combo of Marta ( 2008 FW World Champion) and Pawel (world ranked 5th) Hlavaty; and the Miarczynski brothers, Jarek and Przemek (“Pont”).
Sopot is situated on the coast of the Baltic Sea, between Gdańsk and Gdynia in the natural centre of the Tri-City’s Agglomeration, is an established windsurfing area, and 15km from the nearest international airport (Gdansk).
The club are very experienced in running windsurfing regattas and last year hosted a very successful Grand Prix
