The final day of the Brazilian Formula Windsurfing Championships, part of Wind Brazil 2008, finished this Sunday, 23rd of November at the waterfront of Marina Park Hotel. Gabriel Browne (BRA 50), known as Biel, was declared the winner. At 17 years of age he showed great maturity and determination to take the title, a revelation and inspiration for the young generation.

On the final day of racing, four races were completed over a course of approximately 3 kilometers. The championship had strong winds every day, around 19 knots, and an atmosphere of high expectations among the competitors. Paulo Reis (BRA333) from São Paulo, after a slow start, achieved a good result and finished in second position. Willhelm Schurmann (BRA999) fought hard on the last day to reach a good position, and finished the competition in third position.

João Henrique Barros from Ceará, known as Janjão, was the Champion of the Sport category. Other locals sailors that had complete the championship in excellent position: Marcelo Otoch (2º position Sport category) and Mônika Veras (1º position female category).

The organization of Wind Brazil 2008 is preparing now for the registrations of the World Tour Final of the Formula Windsurfing Grand Prix, which takes place from 24 to 30 of November at the Marina Park Hotel. Most of the top ten sailors have already confirmed their presence. Full details will be published at the close of registration.
