Antoine Albeau is the 2007 World Champion – but he did not have it all his own way today ! In the first race of the day it looked a dead cert that Gonzalo Costa Hoevel (ARG3) would claim his second win of the championship closely followed by Steve Allen and Antoine. But at the finish line the positions were reversed in what was almost a photo finish. !
Steve kept the pressure on during race12 to claim his first win of the series; Gonzalo despite finishing in the top 5 was declared OCS . Leading brasilian Paulo Dos Reis put in a storming performance to finish 3rd
Steve’s trademark is consistency but he made an uncharacteristic error in the last race of the day and was relieved to finish in the top ten ! Wojtek Brzozowski (POL10) led the race from start to finish , confirming he has put behind him the problems of the past 2 years.
William Schurmann (BRA999), leading sailor in the Light division , maintained his form from yesterday- at least in the first two races today – but remains just outside the top ten.
This championship has highlighted the strength of Brasilian formula racing – with 2 racers currently in the Top Ten ; and 7 in the Top 20.
It is also a reflection of the strength of the class worldwide that 7 nations are currently represented in the top 10.
