With a good wind forecast, and only three races scheduled for today, Race Director Bruno de Wannemaeker announced the first start for 12.30.

At the start the wind was 17/ 18 knots with gusts of 22 knots .What at first looked to be a good start turned into bad news !

A general recall had been signalled – but no racers stopped ! 14 minutes later and the first finishers appeared ; and eventually all racers headed back to the beach only to be sent back for the restart of race 5.

Just before the first start all available committee boats were involved in rescues – one of those rescues being overnight leader Antoine Albeau.

After that shaky start Antoine went on to win today’s 3 races – one by a very big margin. Also breaking a mast before the first start was POL25 , who fortunately was rescued in time to just make the restart and have a 4th place finish.

After Antoine the most consistant sailor was Steve Allen (AUS0); with many other sailors having their best race today. Paulo dos Reis (BRA3333) posting a 2nd and 3rd and local hero Fabio Melo (BRA 74 ) a 2nd place in race 7 after holding off the challenge from FRA192 until the last leg of the course .

First in the lightweight division after 7 races – BRA999 – Willhelm Schurmann;, despite his fair share of equipment failure!
