Yesterday was the first day of the south Americans. the wind gods played tricks and it was impossible to race, as we had winds from 0 to 37 knots (registered at the race committee) we tried one formula race and had to abandon it half way. I lead the first upwind and the downwind, gonzalo who had no wind at the start and got caught by a 35 knot gust afterwards, came back strong to overtake me on the second upwind. when he rounded the top mark to go for the last downwind the race was canceled. In the afternoon the wind filled in to do one slalom in which gonzalo came first and myself second followed by eduard from colombia.

We tried another slalom race, but everyone was overearly except gonzalo and I and it was decided to run the final the next day (today).

We started with formula today. 3 races. First race, gonzalo and I had a good fight to the first short upwind and the long downwind, afterwards, on the second upwind gonzalo opened a good lead which he kept all the way to the finish, I came in second followed by Mathias pinheiro from Brasil.

Soon after we started the next race with the same great wind (15-18 knots). Gonzalo was leading this race followed by eduard from colombia and myself, on the downwind it was a close battle between eduard and myself. I manage to round in front of him and behind gonzalo. On the second upwind, gonzalo had really bad luck when the top of his mast went through his sail and had to abandon the race with a clear lead and count a DNF. I finished this race in first, and Jean Paul (colombia) came from behind to take the second place followed by eduard from colombia and mathias pinheiro. The third race, we had stronger winds of up to 22 knots. Gonzalo lead the race from start to finish, I manage to fight back on the last upwind to the finish, and we had a close finish about 10 seconds apart. In third place and very consistent came Jean Paul.

After formula, it was of to slalom. Gonzalo and I sailed our final in which he won after a close jibing battle. The course is super small taking no more than 8 10 seconds to get to the first mark. We did another 3 finals. Gonzalo took 2 more bullets and I took one. On the last try for the day, it had to be canceled as after the second jibe I was leading and found no boey to go to, it had dragged, so that was it for the day. Eduard had some good results in slalom along with mathias pinheiro. I don´t have the results. but it should be something like this at the moment:

Wilhelm Schurmann

2. Jean paul

3. Mathias pinheiro

Slalom
