In Finland the event was carried out in demanding conditions. Rain, wind and waves were experienced as well as sunshine on the first day. All together 57 racers participated the event; 23 from Estonia and same amount from Finland, 8 from Latvia and 3 from Lithuania. There were 26 masters, 4 youths, 4 juniors and 2 women.

1st racing day

First racing day was first sunny with light wind, 4-5 m/s from southwest and two successful races were carried out. The first upwind course was 1,4km and then 1km downwind and the last side wind course was 1,2km. The best lap time was approximately 9 minutes and two laps were done in less than 20 minutes by the best racers. During the third race of the day the wind died away and heavy rain covered the event area for the rest of first day. Ansis Dale, LAT-13, (Starboard, Neilpryde) won both light wind races of the first day. Martin Ervin, EST-202, (Starboard, Neilpryde) was the second and Janis Preiss; LAT-23, (F2, NorthSails) was the third in both race. Erno Kaasik, EST-2, (Starboard, Neilpryde) was the 4th in both races of the first day. Jani Paju, FIN-12, (Lorch, Point-7/Gaastra) was the best Finn and was the 5th in first race, but did not finish the second race.

2nd racing day

Early skipper’s meeting was carried out on the second race day and because of the demanding conditions both personal buoyancy and sign out-in were set in force. The wind from 8 m/s to over 10 m/s was more from west than southwest and waves were gradually getting higher during the day.

The course diagram was the same as in the first race day, only the finishing line was nearer to the beach and racers could therefore go to the beach during every race, even when racing back to back. The 3rd race started on time 10:30 and few racers were rescued already during the race from the racing area, because of broken equipments. The hard wind and big waves seemed to have an effect on the sailors that were more used to light winds and flat water, than to those sailors who are used to Formula Windsurfing in high wind and wave conditions.

Janis Preiss, LAT-23, won the first race. Martin Ervin, EST-202, was the second and Erno Kaasik, EST-2, the 3rd. Juhan Peedimaa, EST-47, (Starboard, Neilpryde) was the 4th and Ansis Dale, LAT-13, the 5th. After the third race Erno Kaasik took the leading role and won the three other races of the second day. Janis Preiss and Martin Ervin were fighting of the second place.

After four races in the 2nd racing day the competitors have had enough high wind and waves, and the social programme with sauna, dinner and beach party started.

3rd racing day

Third racing day started even earlier and the wind and waves were little less than the day before. The sailing conditions still demanded the use of buoyancy and sign out-in system. The course diagram was altered a little while the wind direction had altered to more southwest, the upwind course was shorter, but downwind and side wind courses were longer. The total lap time of the best racers did not however alter.

Erno Kaasik from Estonia kept on winning the 7th and 8th races, only in the last 9th race he was the 3rd. Janis Preiss from Latvia occupied the 2nd place in the 7th, 8th and 9th race. Ansis Dale was the 3rd in the 7th race, and 5th in the 8th and 9th race. Martin Ervin was 4th in the 7th race, but then achieved the 3rd and in the last race the 1st position. Juhan Peedimaa was fighting with Jani Paju of the 5th placement and even loosing few races to Jani managed to make better placements.

There were few juniors, youths and women in the event. The best youth was Kaju John, EST-24, (F2, Gaastra). His placements were fluctuating from 15 to 21, which can be estimated excellent among so many racers. The best junior was Rudolf Kruklis, LAT-96, (Starboard, NorthSails), his placements were from 20 to 33 and he sailed successfully through every nine races. The best women and junior as well was Kadi Ilmjärv, EST-665, (Mistral, Neilpryde).
