Formula Windsurfing Neil Pryde Baltic Cup 2005 [Lithuania] regatta was held on May 26th-28th in Nida.

Event was organized by windsurfing club “Vejas galvoje”, extreme sports centre “X-pro” and Neringa City Municipality. The event has been sponsored by NEW VISION, AUTOPLIUS, RASA, SELITA, SERFAS, GEOSINTETIKA, UTENOS TRIKOTAZAS.

Nida is located in Kuršių Nerija (Curonian Spit) 50 km from Klaipeda. Nida is famous as the most picturesque sea resort of Lithuania, recognized by UNESCO as national heritage. Big dunes, significant temperature differences between the cold Baltic Sea waters and shallow warm Curonian Lagoon creates constant winds. The water temperature was 15 degrees, air temperature 13-18 Celsius degrees. Wind conditions varied 10-14m/s the first day and 4-5m/s the second day. On Saturday 4 races were sailed, Sunday – 2 races and the 3rd race was abandoned soon after the start due to lack of wind.

Windsurfers from all three Baltic countries and Poland came to participate in the competition this year: 20 from Estonia, 14 from Latvia, 6 from Poland and 21 from Lithuania, 53 in total.

Erno Kaasik (Estonia) has won the Formula Baltic Cup Lithuania Champion title, Martin Ervin (Estonia) took the second place, the third prize went to Juhan Peedimaa (Estonia). Also Martin Ervin (Estonia) has won the Formula Baltic Cup Lithuania Masters Champion title.

Robert Baldyga (Poland) has become the Formula Baltic Cup Lithuania Youth [U20] Champion, Maciek Rutkowski (Poland) – the Formula Baltic Cup Lithuania Junior [U17] Champion.

The second Formula Windsurfing Baltic Cup 2006 event will be held in Pavilosta, Latvia, on June 23th -25th, third – in Eura, Finland on July 7th – 9th, and the last, fourth one – in Tallinn, Estonia on August 18th -20th.

Baltic Cup Windsurfing Cup has been held annually since 1999. Up to 250-300 windsurfers take participation. The Baltic Cup is a single discipline – Formula Windsurfing – regatta.
