Today was the final day of the US National Championships in Hood River, Oregon. And at 9am there was no wind. Quite the opposite from the two previous days. By 10am the wind was filling in and they started off the final two rounds of the Qualification series so that they could make the switch the Gold and Silver fleets.

Race #9 A vs. C. I started Port below Wilhelm with Sam going Starboard in to the shore. I had great speed again on my 10.8 and quickly took the lead in front of Wilhelm with Sam rounding in 3rd. I extended my lead a bit more on the downwind and next upwind. And then I stopped thinking. For some reason I was thinking that we were finishing at the beach and I rounded the finish pin instead of sailing through the finish line. By the time I had realized my mistake and gone back to finish I had dropped to 3rd with Wilhelm taking a lucky bullet and Sam in 2nd. I sure blew and easy victory there……….Check out www.devonboulon.com for full reports.
