From Tuesday July 5th to Saturday July 9th Reggio Calabria will host the 2005 Italian Formula Windsurfing Open National Championships. After the successful 2004 edition in Elba Island, this year the most important event in Italian FW racing season docks at Reggio, on the southernmost point of continental Italy, on the Straits of Messina just opposite Sicily. Reggio has already been venue of many important regattas and in July it’s one of the most windy spot in Italy.

Moreover during the event in Reggio Calabria the logistics (regatta office, stage, equipment area and so on) are located on a beach downtown, on the lowest level of seafront, an historical very famous promenade that since ancient Greek era was known as “the wonderful mile of the world”. Promenade is the gathering point of town and many thousands of people day and night are walking around this great pedestrian area. As a big terrace on the sea, all people can watch the competitors while racing in an unforgettable landscape with Sicily and Etna volcano as wings.

For all foreign competitors that will join Italian Championships entering within next Monday, June 20th, we offer an exceptional full package, with regatta entry fee, membership of Italian FW Class as requested by our rules, four free dinners with typical foods on 5th-6th-7th and 8th July and free accomodation for four nights (from 5th to 9th July morning) in air-conditioned residence in rooms for 2-3 or 4 people depending on availability, all for 150 Euros. Naturally people can enter on site the first regatta day, but, in such a case, we cannot offer free accomodation anyway.

Read carefully the notice of race, and send ASAP an email to Italian National Windsurfing Office (mared@fastwebnet.it) with your relevant data, informing us about your interest to be part of this very important regatta.

A social program of events will be available in a few days and there will be cultural and turistic trips to the more important surroundings of Reggio Calabria.

Reggio Calabria is the terminus of Highway A3 from Naples (about 440 km. ) and has an airport

with flights to and from Milan, Rome and Malta.
