After being tested ‘down under’ the 2005 Championship Rules are published on the Official Notice Board .The format and body of the Rules will look familiar to those introduced in 2004 and approved by the AGM in Leba .However the disappearance of FRR’s and the introduction of Racing Rules of Sailing 2005 /2008 (and new Appendix B -Windsurfing Rules ) necessitated some changes for 2005:.the start sequence- ‘ races shall be started according to RRS 26 System 1 ‘ ,this will be system chosen by all racing classes , including Olympic racing;the starting line /recalls – the automatic use of the ‘hard one minute’ (black flag start ) is deleted , but can of course be used by the race officer if necessary . see new rule 16.3 ;signals made ashore -note the Z flag is no longer used to send fleets to the race area ;safety system – after the successful introduction of the ‘bar code ‘ system in Leba alternative safety systems (other than sign-in , sign-out) may be approved ;scoring – one less discard in a 15 race series (3, not 4) and new tie break system .

Also :group racing- seeding, ‘the competitors will divided into two groups of approx equal ability according to current Formula Ranking ;age divisions – have been removed from the Class Rules and put into Championship Rules , as have the rules on personal buoyancy .

Weight divisions are highlighted because they have not yet been approved by the Class. They are included to encourage event organisers to give consideration to introducing them as prize categories only-a new incentive for many sailors ?

The Committee are not proposing more World Champions !

Please take time to read through these rules now , if you have any questions, any rules you are not clear about , now is the time to clarify them .
