The first event behind us! Neilpryde Victorian Championships. We didn’t race on Wednesday. The wind was too light (5-15 knots) and unstable – according to the race director.

The second – and the last – day of event brought a standard afternoon breeze. The wind has risen to 8-12 knots and became steady, the water was flat (this place is great for testing). Even though the wind was blowing around 10 knots I was easily going on 9.8. In the following races the conditions were getting only better. During the 4th race the wind exceeded 20 knots. Again it was very stable about strength and direction. By the end of the race, they reported 23 knots on the upwind mark. But I can assure you I felt like it was 27kn.

My 9.8 has worked for me beautifully through out the whole day. In the last race Jesper switched to Starboard159 (from F2) and we had a great battle – I wish he had used it for the whole event. Local guys promised these conditions to be standard and said that sometimes it might rise to 35 knots. My advice for December – bring 9.0’s or even something smaller. One more thing – with 20 knots it gets quite wavy.

Best regards to all
