The Mar Menor is a natural paradise on the Murcian coast and ideal for watersports. Over 70 kms of beaches around the interior sea and many more alongthe Mediterranean side of the coast, an average temperature of 18ş and goodwind conditions, all make the Mar Menor an ideal place for sailing. And ofcourse windsurfing is one of the most popular nautical sports, with theSurfari being the most emblematic windsurfing event held during the year.The Surfari of the Mar Menor is the big autumn meeting for all windsurfers,with well over a hundred boards and numerous exhibiters decending on thetown of Los Alcázares for this classic event.
The meeting itself combines long-distance races around the Mar Menor with anexhibition on the beaches of Los Alcázares of all the new equipment thatwill be appearing next season.
For this, the VII holding of the event, there will be more prizes and moreparticipants, of whom we hope there will be even more foreigners takingpart. The event, organised by the Estación Náutica del Mar Menor (anorganisation bringing together the entrepreneurs of the area), also has thesupport of the magazine Surf a Vela.
Two different regattas will be held, one for Formula Windsurfing, with nolimitation on the material used (bring your license and class card), andanother for Formula Open where sails are limited to less than 10 sq. metres.The registration fee is just 15?.

The Mar Menor itself can be reached by motorway from Alicante (80 km) andMurcia (50 km). By plane (Alicante airport 62 km) and San Javier (6 km), andby train and bus.
Apart from the competition itself, the event will coincide with the Fiestasof Los Alcázares and there will be concerts during the night, music on thebeach, lots of partying and free ‘baptisms’ in many other nautical sportsfor anyone that wants to try their hand at diving, canoeing, sailing, etc.
