we arrived at the beach around 10am to get ready for a 11:30 skippers meeting. it was windy and the since the forecast was calling for today to be the windiest day, they were deffinitely going to go for slalom. there are 20 registered competitors for slalom so we were doing two qualifying heats with 10 guys each. the top 5 would advance to the winners finals and the last 5 would go to the losers finals to complete one round. the qualifying results dont count. only the finals results. by 12:30 the wind was already getting lighter but we headed to the water to try to get some rounds in.

in the first heat I had Finian, Ross, Wilhelm, Alberto and Dan Ellis. the wind was extremely gusty and we had to wait for a while for enough wind. Wilhelm had a great start with Finian above and me right behind because i didnt have a watch so i was following Finian. in the middle of the course there was very light wind. but Finian just cruised through on his big board and sail, while the rest of us were pumping behind. Wilhelm rounded 2nd with me in 3rd and Ross right behind. Alberto came cruising from behind on the big F2 with his 9.0 and caught me and Wilhelm through the holes on the 3rd leg to finish in 2nd. i just missed catching Wilhelm at the finish to get 4th. and Ross passed Dan standing in the last jibe to get 5th.

the wind died and we slowly worked our way back to the beach. later the wind came back up but they only got off the second qualifying heat which ended up be thrown out because the wind shifted causing some guys to have to tack to make mark 3. so we will have to wait for more wind tomorrow to try to get a few more races in.

best regards
