Today is the Inscription Day at the Windsurfing Euro-Cup Oeiras. The event venue is set up for action already and the beautiful city of Oeiras is presenting itself from the best side: While the summer is disappearing already gradually in the northern parts of Europe it is still alive here at the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. The sun is powering with full gas from the blue cloudless sky. Competitors and organization are trying to hide as much as possible in the shadow of the event tents set up by the Clube Overpower. It is only possible to stand the heat due to the strong wind blowing over the beach. A little bit more outside the wind reaches up to over 25 knots. This will be the playground for some of the best windsurfers of the World during the next days.

About 25 competitors are expected for this stop of the Windsurfing Euro-Cup. Among them some of the “big names of windsurfing”. Devon Boulon (ISV-1) from the Virgin Islands is one of the favourites. At last years World Championships in Dranske/Ruegen (Germany) he managed to get 4th. His strongest opponent may be the “Italian Stallion” Andrea Cucchi (ITA-1). He is the Italian Champion and managed to get 3rd in the Windsurfing Euro-Cup 2003. It will be interesting to see the performance of Finian Maynard (IVB-11). He is the current holder of the Windsurfing Speed World Record. One of the hottest riders this season is Ross Williams (GBR-83) from England. He managed to win the Windsurfing Euro-Cup on Rhodes in June. Michal Polanowski (POL-16) from Poland and Gonzalo Costa Hoevel (ARG-3) from Argentina have to chances to win the event, too. Also hot is Alberto Menegatti (ITA-456) the current Formula Windsurfing Youth World Champion.

The Windsurfing Euro-Cup Oeiras has a total prize money of EUR 25.000,00 and is set up for the two disciplines Racing (Formula Windsurfing) and Slalom. The prize money will be split in equal parts and the top-16 of each discipline will win shares of it.

The Skippers Meeting is planned for 12:00 with the first possible start at 13:00. Coverage about the Windsurfing Euro-Cup Oeiras can be found on the official IFWC website www.formulawindsurfing.org , the Euro-Cup website www.euro-cup.org and the official event website www.overpower.net.
