We had the Italian Championship from the 1st to the 6th of June on Isola d’Elba. We had over sixty competitors coming for the whole week to try to win the national title.
The event was organized better than many International event. 3 different filming agency were present. They will distribute their images to all the main Italian TVs and Satellite TVs.
The place we race was better than a stadium. High cliffs over the green water of the island. The first mark was just few meters from the beach. The TV images are great. I will soon send a copy. They look like Helicopter images.
Due to unstable pressure, the breeze was kicking in only one hour a day. We managed to get a race a day mainly.
In first race of the week Patrick Dithelm was almost winning as I caught a bad shift on the first upwind run. On the last reach I managed to take him and win. After that I had straight 5 first places in a row in 4 days races.
Last day races I had the title in the pocket as they planned only two races. So with 7 races, 2 discards. Last 2 races I let space to the others as from 2nd position to 8th, they were still very tight with points. One race was won by Marco Begalli, that gained his second position overall thanks to this result, and last race by Davide Beverino that finished in 5th place overall.
