Two more course races were held here on the third day of the IFCA WORLDS here in Hyères. After a couple of false alerts the wind finally found his groove pretty late in the afternoon in south-western direction with a nice average strength of 17 knots. The sea also was a bit bumpier then it was the days before, especially the shore break who was responsible for a lot of boom, sail and mast damage.

Danish sailor Lars Pedersen (DEN-6) even broke his formula board in two pieces due to a collision with an object floating in the sea. Israëls Arnon Dagan (ISR-1) also had bad luck when his sail got all trashed by the strong shore break right before the start of the first race.

Wojtek Brzozowski (POL-10) was two times the fastest and is currently ranked first in course racing before Frenchmen Antoine Albeau (FRA-192) who finished both times second. Kevin Pritchard (US-3) came both races as fourth over the finishline and is currently ranked third. Dutchman Ben Van Der Steen finished fifth in the first race and third in the second race and has a provisional course race ranking 4.

That’s it for now …competitors are being treated on a free paella meal here in the organising club before getting to bed and have a descent sleep to be fit for another day with excellent sailing conditions here in Hyères tomorrow.
