The final and last day of the South Americans, saw another cold front move in and the wind changing to the south and bringing some rain.
We only got one race in and the wind died down close to the finish of the second race.
Gonzalo, again finished in first followed closely by Paulo dos Reis and Rodrigo Costa.
After the race we all started packing up and had the traditional Churrasco for lunch, in which all different cuts of the finest meat are served. Gonzalo Costa (ARG 3) sailed a incredible event and finished in first with ease, however, Chris Mcgraf from Puerto Rico (PUR 5), was always close to Gonzalo when the winds picked up a bit and nailed some races in the beginning of the event that secured him the second place overall and a first in the Master Category, I (BRA 999) came in Third, 2 points behind Chris, followed by Paulo dos Reis (BRA 3333). Holding on to 5th place was Leonardo Rebelo (BRA 121), who was fitting hard until the last race, he is also the one who made the daily reports and updates on the official web site of the South Americans and made the event happen. 6th place overall and 2nd in Masters, went to Elizeu Vieira (BRA 15) who had the same points as 7th place and won on the tie brake. In 7th came Gabriel Starosta(BRA 307), 8th Rodrigo Costa (ARG 13), 9th Raul Saubidet (ARG 0) and in 10th Marcello Morrone.
Vitoria, once again proved to be one of the best racing venues in Brazil, with good winds, good and cheap hotels, great parties and only 5 minutes to the airport.
Next years event will be hosted in the beautiful Lago Calima in Colombia. That’s all from the south Americans, best regards and good winds,
BRA 999 Wilhelm Schurmann
