The Bay of Roses and the City Castello de Empuries will be the venue for the 2004 Formula Windsurfing Festival – including the 2004 FW Youth World Championship .
Situated just 30 km south of the french boarder at the northeast corner of Spain next to GIRONA, the bay of Roses is one of the most famoust sailing and windsurfing areas of the world, wellknown by the PWA Worldcups since five years. The city of Castello de Empuries is one of the oldest cities of the world , possibly founded 3000 years ago by Greek sailors from Rohdos. The Greeks named the area Palace of the winds – what says more than any other words about the windconditions here the whole year.
Just now – exactly one year before the event – we have temperatures of 32 degrees Celcius and wind of 15 to 25 knots every day onshore with waves up to one meter.
Empuriabrava – which is the exact location of the event – is named to be the largest sportboatharbour of the world with some 16 000 boatplaces. There are more channels and bridges than in Venecia, and each houseowner has his own boat directly in front of his house.
The Badia de Rubina is a beach of 3000 m white sand in Empuriabrava and here the sailors will find all: restaurants, showers, sailors area, parkings and material tents. Directly in front of this beach will be the racing area, also reachable through a small harbourentrance to avoid problems with waves. Next to the closed and watched sailors area will be a whole beachcity with shops, bars, restaurants, beachvolleyball and beachsoccer as well as an exhibition area for classic cars and bikes. A second hand market gives the chance to buy and sell equipment very cheap. Also we are expecting nearly all brands to present their latest stuff and of course the brandnew olympic boards 2008.
Three discotheks will open every afternoon on the beach with the hottest beachparties till late night. But also the worldfamous nightlife of Empuriabrava with some twenty worldtop discotheks and more than 500 shops and restaurants is only 5 minutes by foot away
Only 200 meters away is the Campingarea Castell Mar with some 400 bungalows and mobilhomeplaces ,

The complete programm of the festival will include :
a) Kids Windsurfing event 6 to 15 years for beginners – first racing and freestyle lessons and every day three small races. This event starts on the 25.8.2004
b) Worlds Golden Classics event for all surfers older than 40 with boards older than 10 years , every day late afternoon after the main event
c) Junior, Espoir, Masters and Grandmasters Formula Windsurfing World Championship IFWA 27.8.-2.9.2004
d) Youth Formula Windsurfing World Championship ISAF 27.8.-2.9.2004

We want to point out that Rynair is flying to GIRONA for very low rates if booked in time ( sometimes only 19 Euro from central Europe!)

Car : Highway Perpignan (France ) to Barcelona , after the spanish boarder entrance number 4 – Costa Brava Figueres / Roses

At the camping Castell Mar we have arranged a special area for competitors and their families/coaches who are comming with tents or caravans: we have some 100 places 5 x 6 m for 5 Euro / night, no water or electricity. If you want to use the facillities of the campingarea you need a special card for ten days fo 8 Euro /person. First come first go ! Please contact windyfunroses@interbook.net
Food:
We will have a special offer for competitors and coaches as well as parents /legal guardians with breakfast 2.50Euro and dinner for 5.00 Euro to be booked in advance together with the entry.
There will be restaurants with special offers for all competitors to very low prices.
Theretoo there are a lot of supermarkets like LIDL with all thinkable items in the nearby area.
Transport :
There will be a transport from the airports and the trainstation to the racevenue including materialtransport . Please inform the organizers under windyfunroses@interbook.net if you need transport.
VISA :
If you need VISA or help by bringing material into the EU please contact us not later than 15.12.2003 to receive all documents right in time . We will send you the official invitation of the Real Federation Vela Espana for all those we have received the following documents before by fax

Please see that we have no possibillities to change decisions made by the ministry of immigration.
Please note also that it may take up to three months to receive the visas.
Please note that all persons outside of the EU under 18 years must be accompanied by legal guardians with letters of attorney to pass the immigration.
Assecurances/Insurance
All competitors have to have an insurance for racing . This insurance can be booked at the raceoffice .
All sailors from outside of the EU have to have an healthinsurance covering the risk of racing.
Both documents have to be produced at the registration.
