… Humid and misty conditions again and a forecast of rain, possibly with thunder and lightning thrown in made it doubtful that the Ora wind would work today. Competitors were called out at 1400hrs into a building breeze.
No change at the front of the Formula Youth mens fleet. It seems that the front three Alberto Menegatti (ITA456), Renard Florent (FRA 539) and Julien Quentel have made a private agreement that they will stand on the podium at the prize giving ceremony next Saturday evening. There seems little that anyone else can consistently do about it!
In the Formula Juniors, Robert Baldyga (POL 168) retains a perfect score. Behind him things have changed now the first discard has beenn taken. Dorian Van Rijsselberghe (NED 82) is back in second place have dropped his DSQ… although he is tied on points with Florian bandel (GER 383). A little further back in the pack, Christian Freimuller (GER 550) has taken over as the top Formula (under) 15 racer thanks to dropping a 10th place. Oliver Tom Schliemann (ESP 19)is three points adrift with Maciej Rutowski (POL 232)a further 3 points off the pace. These three are going to have a good fight for the top spot when the Ora wind decides to be generous and give us a coupla days good racing.
The new arrival in the top group in the Formula Espoir fleet is Kristian Linderkilde (DEN 50) who has thankfully fropped his OCS of the first day and climbed to equal 2nd just in front of Tom Nagy (FRA 30) and one point adrify of Pascal Toselli (FRA 916). Add in Keith Atkinson (GBR 56) now lying 4th and one point off the back of the top 3 and it seems that here again the competition will go right down tot he wire.
Peter Munzlinger (ITA 200) is the major beneficiary of the drop in the Formula Masters fleet… Now 3rd, just behind Xavier Ferlet (GBR 451) who showed just how to execute a port hand flier in the second race of the day…. Sadly it had to be abandoned after the forecast thunderstorms arrived at 1500hrs. Hopefully the storm will clear the air and we will get the Ora wind which has made Garda a windsurfers paradise
