At the first day of the US Open Velocity Games, sailors had to wait around until 5pm to get a start. With winds around 5-8 knots most of the day a slight sea breeze filled in and a start was scheduled.

Gonzalo got away clean as did Diaz on starboard, McGain heading into shore on port tack had clear air up the weather mark, but it was Gonzalo taking advantage of the light winds to lead from Diaz and Sherman in 3rd.

Gonzalo finished well ahead of the pack with Diaz finishing clear in second, Sherman hang onto third, with McGain working his way back to 4th after parking at the weather mark, Buzianis following in fifth.

With one race completed, we all look forward to some more consistent winds tomorrow.
