One thing that is great about windsurfing, at every event there are different conditions. I came here to Douarnenez directly from the Eurocup at lake garda. Lake garda had been a very relaxed event with the skippersmeeting no earlier than 11am and every day the wind kicked in between 1 and 2 pm and we could easily do 4 races everyday….here in Douarnenez that is different. First day of the event a light offshore wind, we tried but no valid races were possible. On Monday afternoon the wind slowly but finally got strong enough to do 2 races for the women fleet and one for the men’s fleet. The conditions were quite difficult and after waiting 1.5 hours at the starting line I hardly could bend my fingers when the starting procedure finally began. We had a great and exciting competition out there as all the girls were racing very close together and basically everybody is able to win a race. This is such an exciting experience to me. Last year I did not race as I was studying in the US. The year before when I did my first Euro cups the women’s fleet was so tiny in comparison to now…it really has exploded and there are many new faces on the water. I am looking forward to many more women-events and hope we will have some good races today….

It’s looking good the wind is picking up.
