I’m native from the town of Douarnenez and therefore I can answer to the racers regarding any question on site.
The venue is in a really good and friendly spot for formula windsurfing. Beach start is easy and there is hardly ever shore break as the bay is very well protected by a tiny island from waves. In that time of the season the wind will be cross on to cross off from he left, if I could compare I would say that it is like lake garda with a nice long swell. The beach area is really well protected from the dominant wind souh to north west and will make the event very friendly.
The Formula series will be racing at the same time as 3 other series during the week.
The “Dragon class” those are a very famous and excusive class in boat sailing, 3 persons on board, it is the biggest event toguether with the world and they will have a lotery as well for their class with a “Dragon boat” for the winner, The 105 boats in that series all pre-registered already. It is now organized and priced the same way since few years in that class.
The “kite surf” will have a long distance race with 50 participant maximum for security reason
On the week end 200 kids will be racing on “Optimist”.
The organisation of that event are doing a great job every year and this year they expect over 800 peoples on the water, betwen all the series.
The bay is big enough for every one, the accomodation is not a problem but I will suggest that you plan your stay in advance due to thze amount of people coming with the 800 racers.
