A couple of weeks ago, I was beginning to wonder if this would be the year with hardly any new FW boards. How wrong could I be! The manufacturers never let us down with registrations coming in right up to the deadline on the 30th September. With a pile of forms sitting on desk, this report can only be a guide to next season’s Formula boards, but past experience assures us that all but maybe one or two will survive the registration process.

The reason for the early registration date is to ensure that on January 1st 2003, all the fully registered boards can be checked, ISAF Approved and in production and circulated around the world as the dealers call them in.

Between now and January 1st factory checks will take place as required. Measurers will check the moulds and take various measurements off the first production boards. This will ensure the board that wins the 2003 world championships is as near identical as possible to the boards that you can buy.

The registering of Production Funboards continues throughout the year although after the 30th September newly registered Race boards will not be able to compete in International FW events until January 2004.
